Springfield, MA (Future150) -- Huntington Prep has quickly become one of the premier prep programs in the nation under head coach Rob Fulford. He has been able to pull some of the top talent from around the country to Huntington, West Virginia.
This year’s group is no different, as he convinced JaQuan Lyle, Miles Bridges, and Josh Perkins to all join the mix. Perhaps his most impressive get was 2015 big man Thomas Bryant. A native of the Rochester area, Bryant spent his first two years starring for Bishop Kearney (NY). So far, he feels the move has really paid off.
“I enjoy it a lot, I’m improving every day. I’m getting better as an all-around player,” he said of his move to Huntington Prep.
Bryant also got the chance to join the Team USA mini-camp this past year and credits that experience for helping him develop as a player as well.
“USA Basketball has helped my game a lot. I had to separate myself as more than just a scorer.”
Indeed, Bryant has gotten much stronger in the past few months and more aggressive as well. It appears as though a switch has flipped in the big man’s head, and now he is quickly becoming a dominant force. He has also become much more vocal defensively since leaving Bishop Kearney as well.
“You can always be vocal, be a leader. Teams need one, and it’s big. I’ve kind of taken on that role,” he said.
Schools have been keeping tabs on Bryant for a while now and have to be excited with his development in the last year. Syracuse, Seton Hall, St. John’s, West Virginia, and Villanova have all offered him, while Kentucky is showing serious interest as well. Bryant said that location wouldn’t be a factor either.
On the AAU circuit, Bryant will again suit up with a talented Team Scan group. Fellow 2015 standout Cheick Diallo will man the post with him, while wings like Devonte Green and Chance Ellis will provide firepower from the perimeter.
Follow along with Future150 as we continue to track Bryant through the rest of his junior season and into his senior year.
