Lubbock, TX (Future150) -- The Big Dance is finally here and while everyone would like to cut down the nets, there can only be one champion. That being said, there is always the chance that the next season could be better than the last. With that in mind, Future150 would like to introduce "The Next Step", a segment dedicated to breaking down each program's recruitng class as they bow out of the tournament; because there's always next season.
Coach Tubby Smith had a very solid season with a team that many thought would be bottom feeders in the Big-12. Instead the Red Raiders enjoyed some big time regular season wins over Iowa State, Baylor, and Oklahoma. These quality wins helped land them a spot in the big dance.
Texas Tech only loses two seniors in Devaugntah Williams and Toddrick Gotcher, but both of those guys were the leading scorers of this seasons team. They will return five players who averaged at least eight points a game.
Tubby Smith only has one prospect heading to Lubbock next season, but with so much depth returning a one man recruiting class shouldn't hurt them as much as other programs.
Keon Clergot of Auburndale (FL) is that man. Clergot, who is regarded as a 3-star PG, is a wiry, athletic PG that can score from all three levels. His ability to penetrate off the bounce could be deadly as he can be a threat to finish at the rim or kick the ball out for a trey ball.
Look for Texas Tech to have another decent squad next season, and possibly back to back years appearing in the big dance.
