Newark, NJ (Future150) -- The Big Dance is finally here and while everyone would like to cut down the nets, there can only be one champion. That being said, there is always the chance that the next season could be better than the last. With that in mind, Future150 would like to introduce "The Next Step", a segment dedicated to breaking down each program's recruiting class as they bow out of the tournament; because there's always next season.
After winning the Big East tournament, people were under the belief that Seton Hall could make some noise in the dance. The Pirates got matched up against Gonzaga in the first round, and fell short to a team that looks like they could make some noise themselves.
Still, this has been one of the most successful season's in Seton Hall's recent history and assuming no one leaves early or transfers, the future is promising. Isaiah Whitehead, Desi Rodriguez, Ish Sanogo, Khadeen Carrington, and Angel Delgado will form one of the most formidable starting lineups in the Big East, and probably the country as well. Throw in Mike Nzei, Verr Singh, and Jevon Thomas all a year older, and the Pirates should contend for another title.
Derrick Gordon was the lone senior on this squad. His shooting, defense, and leadership will be missed. Enter Myles Powell. The sharp-shooting wing has a college ready frame and the tools to be a "3-and-D" type player that Gordon was in his lone season. With a majority of the core set to be juniors, it is assumed that Whitehead would step into that leadership role.
As long as Kevin Willard can keep this core together, Seton Hall will be near or at the top of the Big East next season.
