Hampton, VA (Future150) -- The Big Dance is finally here and while everyone would like to cut down the nets, there can only be one champion. That being said, there is always the chance that the next season could be better than the last. With that in mind, Future150 would like to introduce "The Next Step", a segment dedicated to breaking down each program's recruitng class as they bow out of the tournament; because there's always next season.
The Hampton Pirates have been the kings of the MEAC the past few seasons and even though they're losing their top three scorers to graduation, they show no signs of slowing down with a solid four man recruiting class headed their way.
Introducing Jermaine Marrow, Jaekwon Carlyle, Damian Knowlin, and Trey Carver. Good news for the Pirates, all these guys know how to score the basketball. Marrow is a true lead guard with good scoring abilities and fantastic court vision. Even though he's only 5'10, he has good speed that will allow him to blow by bigger defenders.
Hampton adds another PG in Jae Carlyle, who shares plenty of characteristics with his future teammate Jermaine Marrow. Carlyle has good scoring abilities from all three levels, and his court vision is more impressive in the transition setting.
The other two prospects come on the wing with Knowlin and Carver. Knowlin is the full package that could turn into a special player in the MEAC, as he can score, rebound and has good court vision in the halfcourt. He should compliment very well with Carver, who is a very physical specimen at 6'5 and 225 pounds that can shoot and rebound very well.
It is safe to say Hampton will be back in the conversation once again next year as this recruiting class should be very impactful in the MEAC.
