Little Rock, AR (Future150) -- The Big Dance is finally here and while everyone would like to cut down the nets, there can only be one champion. That being said, there is always the chance that the next season could be better than the last. With that in mind, Future150 would like to introduce "The Next Step", a segment dedicated to breaking down each program's recruitng class as they bow out of the tournament; because there's always next season.
Next up is the Trojans of Arkansas Little-Rock.
UALR fell short against a talented, experienced Iowa State squad. This team loses five seniors, two of which are the teams best scorers. What's the next step for the Trojans?
Even though they only have two commits coming in next season, both should carve out decent roles eventually. Enter Future150 Alumni's Andre Jones and Ryan Pippins who are both from Little Rock.
Jones has great size for a two-guard at 6'4 and 190 pounds. He can slash into the lane on command and has good court vision for someone who mostly play shooting guard. If he can improve his ball handling skills and on-ball defense he could be a special player for the Trojans.
Pippins is more of a combo guard as he has mutual skills persisting to the point guard and shooting guard position. Standing at just 6'0, Pippins may have trouble guarding other two guards, so he may convert into a full on PG at UALR. His basketball IQ and three point shot are certainly two of his main strengths. His lack of athleticism and speed may hinder him a bit, but he should be a decent contributor at UALR.
The Trojans may take a dip after losing some big time production, but it wouldn't be surprising to see them back in the big dance soon.
