Queens, NY (Future150) -- In a time where it appears that the talent level in New York City  is on the up and up, Tareq Coburn may just be the best available senior in the area.

A 6-foot-3 shooter, Coburn scored 25 against another top team in Queens last night, knocking down six threes in the process. A rangy athlete, he was able to put the ball on the floor and get to the rim quite a bit as well.

This game was far from a fluke though, as Coburn has been playing at a high level since the fall. Now he's gone from being the second option on his own team to being arguably the top player in the Queens PSAL division.

"I just want to win the city championship and win a state title, I want everyone to play well and hopefully pick up scholarships along the way," said Coburn.

Drexel, Fairfield, and Farleigh Dickinson have all offered the scoring guard, while Iona and St. Bonaventure are in contact and showing heavy interest.

"My goal is to make college coaches aware of me, get them familiar with who I am, see my potential and what I can do as a player," Coburn said of his recruitment.

With more performances like the ones he's already turned in so far this season, it's not a stretch to think that he should start raking in the offers sooner rather than later. Look for Coburn to continue to boost his stock as the season wears on as he continues to prove that he's the best prospect that NYC has to offer for the late signing period.
