Milwaukee, WI (Future150) -- He still has two years of high school hoops remaining, but Jordan Poole is done with the college recruitment process.
Michigan has turned the corner in the last six months. After Tyus Battle bolted for Syracuse the recruiting class appeared to fall apart.
Head Coach John Beilein regrouped and landed Ibi Watson, Xavier Simpson, and now Jordan Poole.
Michigan is a school that does not need five-star athletes to win. Their system encourages passing, shooting, and defense. If a young man can do these things at an elite level, then success will follow both for him individually and for the team at large.
Poole is an exceptional shooter. He will thrive under Coach Beilein.
The Class of 2017 will not be large. In fact, Poole could be the only member of the class. Michigan has a large sophomore class now (6 bodies), and intends to sign four this fall to the Class of 2016. That only leaves three more scholarships between the Class of 2015 and 2017 combined.
Other Options
Remember Poole will not play college basketball until the fall of 2017. So, he could conceivably change his mind, but intimated to Future150 earlier this week how unlikely that would be.
"I am more a man who keeps my word," said Poole Wednesday. "To stick to your word is a really big thing. If I get drafted in (NBA) 2K, then I don't let my guy get traded. Me saying I am going to commit...it means that, 'whatever other school comes' will not matter."
