Taking the Dip VIP

Miami, FL (Future150) -- The Miami Hurricanes are hitting the phones this week.  Will this monsoon of Hurricane phoners result in a big splash commitment?

The Class of 2017 has plenty of top players, but Miami is already identifying their targets. 

An hour ago Miami offered Aljami Durham Jr.

"Al said he spoke to them opening night, at midnight," said father and AAU Coach Al Durham.  "They passed the phone around and he talked to all the coaches.  Larranaga called him twice during the day.  They made him feel wanted.  They have really been on him."

The Hurricanes have been exceptional at evaluating talent.  Unearthing gems was a necessity for Coach Larranaga when he was with Bowling Green and George Mason.    Now he has a little more pull with the ACC school.  Branching out of Florida is smart because the entire Southeast considers Miami a viable option.

"It is definitely on his list," said Coach Durham.  "He likes them.  He definitely likes the coaches. They have reached out to him and talked to him about what they need and where he would fit in."

Currently Virginia Tech, Georgia, South Florida, and Louisiana Tech are the most active in their pursuit of Durham Jr. 

"I think Alabama is getting ready to offer," said Coach Durham.  "Louisiana Tech offered.  He really likes Miami. USF and LSU have been really, really on him.  He is wide open though."

By April Andrew Platek had already visited Yale, Bucknell, and Boston University. 

Miami offered him Monday morning.
