Columbus, OH (Future150) -- Michigan State has done it again. By bringing in Nick Ward (OH) they ensure physical play will remain a focus in East Lansing for years to come.
Minutes ago Ward verbally committed to the Spartans becoming the first verbal commitment of MSU's Class of 2016.
Ward stands 6'8", with 240 pounds to throw around. The skill is uncommon for any post player let alone a man his size.
Michigan State beat all the other Big 10 schools to Ward. They offered him last June, while Ohio State, Illinois, Iowa, and Indiana pushed their chips in this calendar year.
Dayton, Xavier, Miami, and Iowa State are some of the non-Big 10 schools to have offered. In the end Ward selected MSU.
Ohio has been a fruitful land for State recruiting dating back years. Former MSU-players from Ohio include Travis Trice, Travis Walton, Raymar Morgan, and Delvon Roe.
Michigan State has been steadily chasing a handful of Michigan kids with the 2016 class. They need to fill two more spots, probably a PG and a WG.
Top targets include Cassius Winston, Josh Langford, Josh Jackson, and Amir Coffey.
