Grandview, MO (Future150) -- Slowly but surely, coaches and fans alike are turning one eye to the 2018 class. While some programs are still looking to finish up 2016 and identify their main targets for 2017, others are looking to get involved with the top sophomores in their area.
For Grandview (MO) PG Jordan Lathon, there has been plenty of early interest. The sophomore set the tone for his breakout campaign at Future150 Arkansas this past September, and has gone from an unknown commodity to a potentially national level prospect.
At 6-foot-4, he has great size for a lead guard, making him that much more intriguing.
"I think my biggest strength is my play making ability. My biggest weakness at the moment is knowing when to penetrate or not. Picking and choosing the right spots. Which I feel like I'm getting a lot better at," Lathon said of his game.
Missouri, Missouri State, Wichita State, Nebraska, Kansas, UMKC, Evansville, Creighton, Miami (OH), Stanford, Virginia, SMU, and Virginia Tech have all shown interest so far.
The Shockers have been the most aggressive early. Lathon took a visit to the school in September and WSU has been in contact on a weekly basis since.
As is the case with any sophomore, no coach can contact Lathon directly until June 15th, a date that he is looking forward to.
Look for Lathon to draw even more interest this spring when he suits up for MoKan on the EYBL circuit. Few point guards in his class can match his size and play-making ability, making him a prime candidate for a break out season.
