Quitman, MS (Future150) -- Hailing from a small town, it can be quite the challenge to get noticed outside your region, let alone state. However, it tends to become easier when you are a 6'6", 190-pound forward with the physique of a college linebacker.
Meet Darius Hicks, a burgeoning star in his hometown of Quitman, Mississippi, a quaint town nestled near the Alabama border. While the town itself is very small, Darius' upside is colossal.
He is coming off an eighth grade basketball season in which he dominated, with averages of 20 points, 15 rebounds, six blocks, and four assists per game.
Now, he's ready to take his talents to the high school level. Before he has even played his first varsity game, he is claiming interest from the University of Alabama and the Mississippi State Bulldogs. Not too shabby for such a young prospect.
Now, Darius plans on reaching some very big goals he has set for himself and his team for next season. "I plan on helping my team win a state championship for our hometown and playing to the best of my ability."
Sounds like a pretty good way to get noticed, doesn't it?
