Pittsburgh, PA (Future150) -- One of the hottest names among college coaches and scouts alike during the April live periods was Sam Singer (2013 PG). The Gold Coast (FL) lead guard opened a lot of eyes with his shooting ability and leadership throughout the start of the AAU season. Now Singer is looking to further boost his stock this summer. He has been working hard on his game and is glad that people have taken notice. "It's exciting and gratifying because it shows the work that I've put in individually to get to this point as a player, as well as an AAU Team, to be successful as we were in the spring," Singer said.
As far as style of play and attitude goes, it is hard not to see the similarities between Singer and BYU legend Jimmer Fredette. Both are big lead guards with sweet strokes and are natural leaders. "Jimmer is definitely somebody I try to emulate because he can score in a variety of ways, as well as set his teammates up and create for others. I'd describe myself as a combo guard who can score as well as run a team and create not only for myself, but the other guys around me. I try to emulate guys like Steve Nash, Jimmer, and Nick Calathes," he said.
Right now Singer claims that he is wide open as far as schools go, and is more than open to other schools getting involved before he makes his decision. He currently holds offers from Kansas State, Virginia Tech, Richmond, Davidson, Penn State, Auburn, UCF, Miami, USF, BC, and South Carolina. He also is garnering interest from Indiana, Pitt, Stanford, Tennessee, Wake Forest, Alabama, Virginia, and Harvard. Certainly more schools will throw their hats into the ring for Singer's services as the July live period rapidly approaches.
