Roy, UT (Future150) -- Utah has collected a commitment from the best prospect in the state for the 2014 class.
Roy High School star Brekkott Chapman, a 6-foot-8 small forward, committed to the Utes on Monday over scholarship offers from high major programs such as Arizona, Gonzaga, Colorado, and UCLA.
It is a major recruiting coup for the Utes, who need to keep the best local talent at home in order to contend with the predominant Pac-12 powers.
A relationship with Utah head coach Larry Krystkowiak sealed the deal for Chapman, who has the opportunity to come in and make an instant impact in the conference.
Currently rated the #52 prospect in the rising senior class, a huge summer by the athletic forward has helped his stock soar over the past few months.
He is the first commitment for the Utes in the 2014 class.
