Houston, TX (Future150) -- Some basketball players find it difficult to live up to expectations, but heading into his first year of high school, Jarred Vanderbilt has a big plate in front of him.
Despite not even playing a high school game yet, the freshman has already received interest from a handful of prestigious schools.
“Creighton, Baylor, Kansas, Syracuse, Oklahoma, SMU, Texas, Texas A&M, and Houston have all shown interest so far,” Vanderbilt claims, and that number will continue to grow in the future.
At 6-foot-7, his size and versatility from the wing position is uncharacteristic for players his age. That is one of the many reasons why the Victory Prep (Tex.) product is the No. 2 prospect in the 2017 Future150 rankings.
Despite being one of the best individual players in the country, Vanderbilt is looking to do one specific thing this high school season.
“I want to lead my team to a state championship,” he told Future150.com.
With tons of talent coming out of Texas the last few years, expect Vanderbilt to be the next great Texan to hit the high school basketball ranks.
