Springfield, MA (Future150) -- Oak Hill has a long history of having talented guards come through their program and this season is no different. With at least four high-major guards on this year's team, Matt Coleman is the point guard of this group. The junior had an impressive showing at the Hoop Hall classic earlier this month and has a handful of programs pushing harder than most for his commitment.
“Texas I hear from every day, Arizona, Indiana, Florida, Seton Hall, NC State and Virginia,” said Coleman.
Oregon offered shortly after the event, while Kentucky and Kansas are also among the programs involved. Coleman believes that they will offer shortly after the HS season or during the AAU season.
With great speed and athleticism, Coleman is the type of lead guard who would excel in an up-tempo system. Shaka Smart has been recruiting him since his days at VCU and could really use his services in Austin.
“I like Shaka, he’s a player’s coach, he’s very energetic, loving and caring type of person. He’s doing a little something at Texas right now.” Coleman said.
There are still some ties in-state at well. Virginia has also been on Coleman for awhile and hopes to land the talented lead guard to replace London Parrentes.
“Virginia I hear from a lot too, Me and Coach Bennett have a great relationship and he’s been recruiting me since I was in eighth grade. Most of the time he doesn’t talk to me about basketball, he talks to me about school and family.” he said.
His recruitment remains open and he doesn't appear ready to cut his list down any time soon. Look for Coleman to pick up more offers this AAU season, while the aforementioned programs continue to work hard to garner his commitment.
