KETTERING, OH (Future150) -- Without Ohio U. signee Doug Taylor on the floor with him, 2016 forward Seth Towns is changing his play style on the court, and with great results. The junior had 47-point, 20-rebound performance earlier this month to go along with another 37-point outing.
“As soon as (Doug) got injured my mindset changed, I knew I had to be more mature on the court,” Towns said. “I had to step up and mentally become a monster, and that’s what I try to do.”
The list of schools recruiting the Viking forward has not been limited to just Big Ten programs, but when asked about who he’s been in contact with the most, more than half of the schools were in the Midwest.
“I’ve been talking to Michigan, Iowa, Ohio State, Purdue, Harvard a lot, Stanford, UCLA,” Towns told Future150. “I talked to Syracuse a little bit. Those are the main ones.”
Ohio State is one of the top schools in the mix, and Towns talked about the local influence on the junior.
“That’s a really good relationship, just having that college guidance right down the street,” Towns said. “It’s really an honor to have an offer from them, but also a really big advantage because the interest level is really big in Columbus.”
Towns has been to three Ohio State games so far, and he is observing what they do as a team and helping to blend that into his game.
“I just try to get better every day and that’s really helping my game out.”
As for choosing a college, there is no rush to cut his list to a specific set of schools yet however.
“We’re always just looking at it as a blessing, I never thought any of this would come up,” Towns said. “Right now, we are just sitting back and letting things play out.”
