New York, NY (Future150) -- In a time where the game of basketball is changing, 2017 G Paul Scruggs represents where the game is going. At 6-foot-3, Scruggs has moved over to the point guard position and seen his stock rise because of it.
A physical defender with a smooth handle and the ability to finish around the rim, Scruggs was one of the more dominant players on the Under Armor 16U circuit during the New York stop. Scruggs also showed decent passing ability and an improving jumper from beyond the arc as well.
The development in his game over the past year has allowed him to continue to be one of the premier guards in his class, and his recruitment reflects that. After taking visits to Kentucky and Illinois in the past couple of weeks, it's clear that his recruitment will reach the highest level. Michigan State offered early this spring, while Indiana has had an offer extended since his freshman year. Other schools who have offered include Kansas, Purdue, and Xavier. Ohio State has also gotten involved and is recruiting him to be a lead guard as well.
"I'm still trying to improve my ball skills and shooting, I want to be the best," sad Scruggs.
With a number of big time programs already recruiting him and his development, it's only a matter of time before the rest of the big boys get involved as well. Look for Scruggs to take a jump in our next rankings update.
