Union, NJ (Future150) -- The class of 2019 in the state of New Jersey is shaping up to be a pretty strong one. With three top 25 prospects in wings Bryan Antoine, Scottie Lewis and Precious Achiuwa, there is certainly star power at the top.
Those aren't the only guys trending as potential high-major recruits though. Khalil Whitney, Isaiah Wong and Paul Mulcahy are all currently checking in as current top 100 recruits.
This is fantastic news for a rebuilding Rutgers program. The Scarlet Knights have had a better season than most expected and it appears that Steve Pikiel and company have drawn some excitement from a fanbase that hasn't had much to cheer about and may have things moving in the right direction.
What the former Stony Brook head man is doing in Piscataway is starting to resonate with recruits as well, as Isaiah Wong spoke highly of the in-state program.
"Rutgers, they've really come from nothing. They're so big right now and it's been really unsuspected. I really like Corey Sanders and he might be the next Rutgers player to go the NBA. I actually live 30 minutes away right now, but used to live right in Piscataway so I used to go and play against their players back then," said Wong.
Joining the Scarlet Knights in offering him so far has been Monmouth, St. Joe's and Temple. Villanova, Ohio State, Tulane and Syracuse have all gotten involved as well.
Rutgers has been at a lot of Notre Dame's games for Wong this year and appear to be making him a priority. So while he maintained that it's still early in the process and he's still very much open, it's worth noting that the in-state program has made a very favorable early impression on Wong. Follow along as he continues to rack up offers playing with We R1 on the Under Armour ciruit this spring and summer.
