Lawrence, KS (Future150) -- Bill Self and company have been actively purusing many of the top prospects in the class of 2014. On Monday, they finally nabbed one; small forward Kelly Oubre cancelled his visit to Kentucky and decided to become the newest Jayhawk.
Oubre will bring Kansas a suitable replacement for Andrew Wiggins if he makes the jump the NBA next year. He is long, active, and can score in a variety of ways. Like Wiggins, he is athletic and has the ability to take over a game. While he may not be the trancendant talent Wiggins is, there is no doubting he will slot right into the starting lineup.
Throughout the summer, Oubre spoke highly of Kansas and at the Elite 24 he stopped short of naming them his co-leader along with Kentucky.
While on paper this would appear to be KU's only scholarship available, there is little doubting Wiggins will enter the draft and could be joined by Perry Ellis, Wayne Selden, and Joel Embiid, depending on the seasons they have.
There is a growing thought that Jaquan Lyle and Cliff Alexander could join the Jayhawks in this class as well. Jahlil Okafor, Tyus Jones, Myles Turner, and Payton Dastrup are all considering KU as well.
It would appear that the Jayhawks are set to reload once again. With Kelly Oubre in the fold, they are off to a great start.
