Huntington, WV (Future150) -- Proclaimed by many to be one of the top players to hit the college ranks in the ast decade, everyone was interested in seeing where Andrew Wiggins would end up.
On Tuesday, that all came to a close, as Wiggins made his decision in front of family, friends, and teammates. It's official; he's a Jayhawk.
Wiggins joins an already talented group that consists of SG Wayne Selden (#29),SG Brannen Greene (#37), PG Conner Frankamp (#50), C Joel Embiid (#64), and PG Frank Mason (#120). Adding the #1 overall recruit to this group will vault them to #2 in our updated class rankings.
Wiggins is a freak athlete who can put the ball on the floor and create for himself as well as his teammates. He is an elite slasher and while his jumper isn't quite up to par with the rest of his game, it is easy to see that he is a special talent.
That fact may not have been more evident than when he outplayed the #2 ranked player in the country, Julius Randle, at the Nike Peach Jam last summer.
UNC, Kentucky, and Florida State all missed out on Wiggins, and won't be able to recover this late in the recruiting calendar. In all likelihood, all three programs will save their scholarships for the class of 2014. Out of the three, missing out on Wiggins hurts FSU the most, as they had the biggest need for him. UNC has a solid class coming to Chapel Hill, while Kentucky has arguably the best class ever assembled next year.
In the end, Andrew picked the program that he felt best suited him. As a result, college basketball fans should rejoice, as there will be more balance at the top next season. Even if you aren't a Jayhawk fan, get excited; because Andrew Wiggins will set the college basketball world on fire.
