Dallas, TX (Future150) -- On day two of 17U action at PrimeTime Nationals, a pair of twins from the Lone Star State stole the show, while others proved their worth as well.
Kaelin Jackson-Goldwire, 2014 SF, Anthony Goldwire Elite: The 6-foot-6 small forward exploded for 18 points in a loss on Friday, showing the ability to score the basketball on all three levels. He is a muscular prospect who can hurt the defense in several ways. He will be heading the JuCo route next year, and you can expect him to get much better while he is there. He has a lot of ability to work with.
Kourtland Jackson-Goldwire, 2014 PF, Anthony Goldwire Elite: The other twin is more of a power forward. He is at his best when he is rebounding on both ends, using his high motor to create opportunities for himself around the rim. He is also a very good on-ball defender and plays bigger than 6-foot-6 due to his athleticism. Like his brother, he will play JuCo ball next year and should improve vastly.
Chris Cheatham, 2015 PG, NM Select: The 5-foot-8 sparkplug was unstoppable going to the rim on Friday morning. He has a lot of wiggle in his game and always has the defense on their toes. While he has a lot of improving to do in terms of shooting the basketball, there aren’t many kids here who do a better job of attacking and dishing to teammates for scoring opportunities.
Dayton Artis, 2016 PG, Arkansas Bluechips: The 6-footer was impressive as an explosive scorer on Friday. He used his speed to create opportunities in transition and was also effective when it came to shooting from mid-range and three-point range. He also showed off his unselfishness as a lead guard, making him more valuable. He finished his game with 17 points on Friday morning.
Reed Donaldson, 2015 C, Yellow Jackets 2016: The 6-foot-5 center has the look of a solid D3 prospect at this point. He’s an athletic post with a high motor who thrives on physical contact around the rim. He is a good finisher and drew several fouls while converting against the defense during his Friday morning game. He finished with 15 points in a loss to the Arkansas Bluechips.
Jackson McGowan, 2016 PF, Texas Warriors: McGowan is a talented forward that does a majority of his damage around the rim. He moves incredibly well and is capable of finishing through contact. The big man is also a solid rebounder who plays with a motor that seemingly never quits.
Quentin Childs, 2015 PG, Georgia Bengals: When his teammates needed him the most, Childs stepped up in a big way. A quick point guard with a good handle, he was in the lane seemingly every possession, either scoring at the rim or drawing fouls and getting to the line. He is the unquestioned leader of this team and could be a nice D2 player down the road.
Kam’ron Parks, 2017 SF, Hoop Squad: Parks has upside through the roof and showed why he could be a monster down the road. At 6-foot-4 he is a long and athletic wing that is capable of hitting threes or getting to the rim and powering through defenders to score. The next step for him will be continuing to tighten his handle and become more consistent, but overall he has a bright future.
Logan Hicks, 2016 CG, Texas Warriors: Hicks has the chance to play either guard position, but is more suited to play off the ball at this point. He has good length, which he uses well on the defensive end. He is also a decent shooter who knocked down a number of three balls on Friday morning.
J.T. Brown, 2015 PG, Arlington Hurricanes: His team needed him to put up points to stay competitive, and he did just that. The diminutive lead guard was equal parts distributor and scorer before he really took over the scoring load in the 2nd half. He showed that he can take his man off the bounce, as well as hit the three when given time and space.
