Orlando, FL (Future150) -- The basketball life has gone rather well for 2015 Pembroke Pines Charter (Fla.) wing Prince Ali over the past few weeks. Despite being eliminated from the state playoffs, the sophomore’s squad finished their season with a record of 22-4.
“Our season went really well this year. We won a lot of games, you can’t be made at that,” he told Future150.com. “I was looking for a breakout season and I think I accomplished that.”
Ali led his team throughout the year, as he finished up the year averaging 20 points, eight rebounds, and four assists. With those numbers, schools are beginning to take notice.
The 6-foot-3 wing claims a recent offer from UConn, a school that has piqued his interest some.
“I’m very interested in UConn. It’s close to where I am originally from, and the program produces a lot of professionals. I’m glad to see my work is paying off, though.”
Florida, Florida State, Miami, Baylor, Notre Dame, UCF, and USF are other schools involved; however, after a big summer with Team Nike Florida, Ali could see his offers and interest sky-rocket.
“I’m hoping to pull in some more offers during AAU, but I’m also looking to get better,” he said.
Ali, who is ranked No. 42 in the 2015 Future150 Rankings, is a talented player, but he still knows he can improve his game. He discussed his strengths and weaknesses:
“My strength is definitely attacking the basket. I’m good in the open floor, but I feel like if I have too much room, I can hit shots, too. I can also guard the 1-3.”
“People say my ball-handling is good, but I feel like I need to keep working on it. My shooting needs to improve as well.”
The sophomore hopes to have an AAU season much like his high school season this year. Stay tuned as Ali is expected to have a big spring and summer.
