Carrolton, TX (Future150) -- Future150 was in Dallas to cover PrimeTime Sports Tournament. Players from small towns highlighted Saturdays top performers and lets take a look at who stood out.
Scooter Garcia 2019 PG, Lubbock Jaguars: Garcia is a guard that is strong on defense, moves his feet well and reads passes very well. Offensively he has a nice set shot and is a solid penetrater.
Skylar Newsome 2019 PF, Lubbock Jaguars: Newsome is an athletic post that scores mainly off put backs and transition layups. Very active on both ends of the floor, which makes him valuable to his team.
DK Blaylock 2019 CF, Lubbock Jaguars: Blaylock was noticed in March for his terrific play and on Saturday he played very well especially handling the ball. He is starting to feel more comfortable on the perimeter and can create his own shot now more effectively.
Stephen Austin 2017 SG, Hooks Hornets: Austin was focused from three on Saturday. He was scoring efficiently from the perimeter. Austin is highly effective in the half court setting, particularly from deep.
Tanner Hamilton 2016 CF, Hooks Hornets: Hamilton is a 6'9" wing with heavy interest from Tulane, Texas State, Columbia and Tulsa. The Hornet can shoot the ball from deep when open and he also rebounds at a high level. When he continues to show he can handle the ball more, he will start converting those interests to offers.
Nicolas Valdez 2019 PG, Gameface Elite: Valdez is a Jr. Future150 Camp Alum and he is a scrappy guard that does something good with the ball when he has it. Valdez might make a good pass or a high percentage shot attempt. Valdez was running the offense on Saturday for Gameface Elite.
El-Amin Greer 2019 PF, Texarkana Knights: Greer is an undersized pivot that makes up for it with his athleticism and length. A fairly skilled post Greer has a main move and a counter move in the post. Rebounds very well defensively, also.
Dietrick James 2017 PG, Team Texas Hornets: James is the meaning of a floor general, as he directed his team on offense. The junior-to-be scored off penetration and coming off screens. His mid-range jumper is reliable, but he also sets his teammates up for good shots.
Chris Thompson 2018 CG, NTX Finest: Thompson is a high-volume shooter that caught fire on Saturday. The shooter can score off the dribble and has a quick pull-up jumper.
Xavier Smith 2018 PG, Higher Goals: Smith, who was last seen in early March, scores mainly off penetrating to the basket and in transition...creates for others well too. He does not force the issue on offense. Must speed up his shot release and when he does, he will be a big-time player.
