Philadelphia, PA (Future150) -- If you are a fan of the high school basketball world, the Philadelphia is the place to be this weekend.  Scholastic Play-By-Play has a couple of big time showcases in the Kobe Bryant Holiday Classic and the Jameer & Pete Nelson Holiday Classic.

The first of the two is the Kobe Bryant Classic, which will be held at the namesake’s former high school, Lower Merion. The schedule looks like this:

Friends’ Central-Abington 1:30
Milford Mill (MD) vs. Constitution 3:15
St. Joseph’s Prep-Methacton 5:00
Lower Merion vs. Archbishop Carroll 7:00

The Friends’ Central-Abington matchup loses a bit of luster with De’Andre Hunter out with an injury but should still be a close matchup.  2015 point guard Justin Jenifer and Milford Mill will take on Constitution and fast-rising 2015 wing Ahmad Gilbert.

Speaking 2015 wings, Chris Clover will lead St. Joseph’s  Prep vs Methacton. While the night cap will feature Lower Merion in a home game vs Archbishop Carroll, who finds themselves as one of the top teams in the country right now.

And that’s only Day ONE.

The 27th & 28th will bring the Jameer and Pete Nelson classics, and the two day schedule looks like this:

December 28th
Life Center vs. Newark Del 1:00
Susquehanna Township vs. Martin Luther King 2:45
Plymouth Whitemarsh vs. William Penn DE 4:30
Roselle Catholic NJ vs. Abington 6:15
Atlantic City NJ vs. Chester 8:00

December 29th
Norristown vs. William Penn DE 12:00
Sanford Del vs. Lower Merion 1:45
William Tennent vs. St. Joseph’s Prep 3:30
Penn Wood-Thurgood Marshall  5:15
Neumann Goretti vs. Chester 7:00
Methacton vs. Bartram 8:30

Life Center gets things started vs Newark, and they are loaded. Maryland commit Trayvon Reed will be a major problem, as will nationally ranked juniors Traci Carter and Malik Ellison. Sammy Foreman will lead Martin Luther King vs Susquehanna Township. William Penn vs Plymouth Whitemarsh might be the closest game of the day.  Roselle Catholic’s nationally ranked trio of 2015s Isaiah Briscoe, Chris Silva, and  2016 G Asante Gist will take on Abington before Atlantic City will take on Marquis Collins and a group of talented seniors at Chester.

Day two starts off with Norristown vs William Penn (DE). Then Sanford (DE) and freshman sensation Eric Ayala will take on Lower Merion. Chris Clover will get to showcase his talents yet again vs William Tennent at 3:30. At 5:15, a well-coached Penn Woof team will take on Thurgood Marshall before possibly the two best teams in the area of the past ten years face-off between Neumann-Gorretti and Chester. Chester has eeked out a couple of hard fought wins while Neumann-Goretti had an up-and-down showing at the City of Palms last week.

All in all it should be a great weekend of hoops put on by the  Scholastic Play-By-Play guys featuring the top teams from all over Pennsylvania and Delaware .
