Kutztown, PA (Future150) -- While most mainstream media flock to shoe circuit events like the Adidas Gauntlet, Nike EYBL & Under Armour Association throughout the year, Future150 has set the standard for finding talent off the beaten path, so to speak, at smaller events throughout the United States.
On Saturday at the KTB Showcase on the campus of Kutztown University, several Pennsylvania prospects showcased their game and proved that not all potential college prospects are found in Adidas, Nike or Under Armour uniforms. Below are a few prospects who shined brightest on Saturday.
Ethan Houston, 2017 PF, Team Final Red: The 6'5" big man was an integral part of Carlisle High School's state playoff run this year, but was overshadowed by talented backcourt teammates Deshawn Millington & Jordan Purcell. However, his game should not be overlooked anymore. After standout performances at the Pitt Jam Fest & now the KTB Showcase, it's safe to say that it's been a very productive spring for the high-motor post. Ethan is a good rebounder, is active on the defensive end, and has an efficient stroke out to the 3-point line. Washington & Jefferson College has recently been in contact with the post.
Caleb Matthews, 2018 SG, Team Final Black: Perhaps the best shooter at the event, the 6'2" Smyrna (DE) product was on fire during his morning game on Saturday. A natural shooter with a flulid release and good lift on his jump shot, he easily led his Team Final Black squad in scoring, and impressed us in the process. American, NJIT & Rider have all inquired over the past few months, and we expect more division one programs to monitor him as long as his hot shooting continues over the summer months.
Xavier Starks, 2018 SG, Reading KTB: The most talked about high school team in the state of Pennsylvania this past season may have been the Reading High Red Knights, thanks in large part to superstar junior Lonnie Walker. However, the 6'0" Starks had several big performances throughout the year as the lone underclassman in the Red Knights rotation. Saturday proved that his role will be expanding next season, as his unselfishness, toughness and natural feel for the game were all on display at the KTB Showcase. While he didn't shoot the ball as much as we would have liked, he proved that he can affect the game in several ways, while also showing improved athleticism and court vision.
Denim Adams, 2021 PF/C, Reading KTB: The 6'0" 7th grader has a long way to go on both ends of the floor, but the potential is undoubtedly there. A long and lanky big man who looks far from done growing, he finished around the rim, rebounded well, and ran the floor for his team. It's going to be fun to continue to monitor the Reading School District prospect as he grows and evolves.
Joseph Chapman, 2022 PG, Reading KTB: Word around the Reading High program is that the 5'4" lead guard is going to be one of the next standout floor generals for the Red Knights. He showed glimpses of that potential on Saturday with his flashy ball skills, superb court vision and impeccable instincts on the defensive end.
