Mesa, AZ (Future150) -- Heading into Thursday, everyone perceived BYU as the favorite to land 2014 Mountain View (Ariz.) big man Payton Dastrup.
On quite the contrary, Dastrup made a surprising commitment to Ohio State and That Matta.
"It was the best fit for me and best feel all around," Dastrup told Future150.com via text.
The 6-foot-9 power forward will learn at one of the best schools to develop big men. However, he will not come in till 2016 because of a Mormon mission trip.
In addition to Ohio State and BYU, Dastrup also considered Florida and Virginia.
Ohio State also has D'Angelo Russell, Keita Bates-Diop, Jae'Sean Tate, and David Bell in the fold for 2014.
