Orlando, FL (Future150) -- In each class, there are dozens, if not hundreds of kids who are hoping to pick up scholarship offers from the likes of Duke, Kentucky, or Kansas; no matter how realistic or unrealistic those expectations may be for each player.

But Trinity Prep's Jasen West has his eyes set on a different destination: The Ivy League.

"I'd like to be able to play at an Ivy league program if possible, but I'm really open to anyone recruiting me. I have a 3.6 GPA and Trinity Prep is a really good academic school, so I'm setting myself up for it," said West.

In a time where more and more players are thinking about what they are going to do after the ball stops bouncing, West is clearly one of those players in the right mindset.

That's promising from a player who is clearly going to be a point guard at the next level, a position that benefits having your smartest players at.

"As a point guard and the floor general, I know it's my job to get my guys the ball in the right spots to score. I feel like I do that really well, and I can get into the lane and either finish or kick out to shooters," West said of his game.

The 6-foot-1 floor general is also a decent shooter, and knocked down a couple of big threes to preserve a win for his team on saturday. The best upperclassman on his team, West knows that it's his turn to run the show.

"Last year we were all seniors, so I didn't really have to lead. This year there are times where I'm on the floor with four freshmen. I like leading these guys and I know that I need to in order for us to be successful," he said.

The next step for West will be getting stronger, as he currently comes in at 165 pounds. Once he does that and improves defensively, things should really pick up for the Orlando product. He will be playing with Team CP25 on the Adidas circuit this spring and summer, and is one player high-academic coaches will certainly want to keep an eye on.
