Louisville, KY (Future150) -- Following the de-commitments of Quentin Snider and JaQuan Lyle, the once solid 2014 Louisville recruiting class needed a win. On Friday afternoon they got one, landing 2014 big man Chinanu Onuaku.
The younger brother of former Syracuse big Arinzne, Onuaku has seen his stock rise considerably since the spring AAU circuit kicked off. Playing with a talented DC Assault group, he was a shotblocker and rebounder all season. He also has the ability to attack from the high post or score with his back to the basket.
It would appear that Chinanu is just scratching the surface of his potential, and Louisville's recent track record of developing bigs could only have helped them land the Maryland-based center.
He joins Jaylen Johnson and Shaqquan Aaron as members of the Cardinals 2014 class who should give them a serious boost in the front court. With one scholarship left it looks like the Cardinals are closing in on JuCo point guard Sam Cassell Jr. It will be interesting to see if Pitino can convince him to join this group, or if the 4th and final scholarship ultimately ends up going to somewhere else.
