Raleigh, NC (Future150) -- Now that the first few live periods have came to a close, which North Carolina products have impressed and raised their stock the most? Future150 Alumni Carter Whitt has been playing extremely well on the Adidas Gauntlet Circuit playing up and age group while running with Team Loaded NC 15's. Which other prospects from the Tar Heel state are on the rise?
10. Jackson Gammons, 2019 6'1" Combo Guard, Calvary Baptist Day School: Running with Team Felton 17U Elite squad, Gammons has opened plenty of eyes so far during this AAU season. His size and strength, on-ball defense, and over all playmaking abilities makes him a very intriguing low-major prospect with considerable upside. Appalachian State, Davidson, and Elon are among the programs who have been showing interest in Gammons.
9. Imajae Dodd, 2019 6'7" Power Forward, Greene Central High School: Even though he hasn't picked up any new offers recently it's easy to see that Dodd is one of the best prospects in North Carolina, regardless of class. Athleticism, elite rebounding and his foot work in the post are just a few reasons why Dodd has caught the eyes of many mid-major programs thus far. He continues to improve and it wouldn't be shocking to see him play his way into high major status before his high school career comes to a close.
8. Jaelyn Withers, 2019 6'7" Small Forward, North Mecklenburg High School: Withers runs with Team Loaded NC 16's and has seemingly impressed every time he has seen the floor. Showing great potential on the defensive end with his combination of length, foot speed, and agility along with elite rebounding and finishing abiltiies, has earned himself multiple offers over the past month. Now holding offers from the likes of Georgia Tech, NC State, and Virginia Tech, don't be surprised to see other ACC schools come calling before the AAU season comes to a close.
7. Jay Gardner, 2018 6'6" Power Forward, Heritage High School: At first glance you would think Gardner may be a little too undersized to play the four spot efficiently at the next level, but you would be wrong. Gardner's high motor and work horse mentality at 6'6"/235 pounds has impressed many low and mid-major programs which has led to multiple offers coming his way over the past two weeks. St. Bonaventure, St. Joseph's, Toledo, and Wofford are just a few of the schools who have extended an offer to Gardner over the past couple of weeks.
6. Day'Ron Sharpe, 2020 6'7" Power Forward, South Central High School: A big standout during session two of the Adidas Uprising Series, Sharpe has the looks of a potential high major with his strength, finishing abilities, and great feel for the game. He can sometimes be overshadowed by Garner Road teammate Carson McCorkle, but Sharpe is starting to make a name for himself and it shouldn't be much longer before he starts to add some offers to his list.
5. John Newman, 2018 6'6" Shooting Guard, Greensboro Day School: Recently picking up an offer from Virginia, many people are starting to realize what Newman is fully capable of. Seemingly being overshadowed by other top prospects on his high school and AAU teams over the past few years, he has now took over as one of the leaders and go-to guys on both his high school and AAU squad (Team CP3). At 6'6" he has great size for the two spot, his mid-range jumper is deadly and he is arguably one of the best on-ball defenders in the 2018 class. Keep an eye on Newman as he should continue to land high-major offers.
4. Immanuel Bates, 2018 6'10 Power Forward, Northwood Temple: Bates has taken his game to the next level over the past few months and has solidified himself as a high major recruit after looking like more of a low major prospect with some upside last year. With recent offers coming from Oklahoma State, Purdue, and UConn Bates will probably shoot up considerably during the next Future150 2018 rankings update. His size and length makes him look like a potential elite rim protector at the next level, not to mention his dominance on the glass and improved foot work down low.
3. Carter Whitt, 2021 6'0" Combo Guard, Trinity Academy of Raleigh: As a rising freshman, Whitt has been turning lots of heads playing an age group up on Team Loaded NC 15's on the Adidas Gauntlet Circuit. His elite court vision, athleticism, and scoring abilities is what has propelled him into 5-star status and a top twenty prospect nationally in the 2021 class. Don't be surprised to see Whitt start to pick up offers this coming high school season.
2. Joey Baker, 2019 6'8" G/F, Trinity Christian School: Yes Baker has been on the national landscape for quite some time now, but it's time to crown him as the clear cut #1 prospect in the class of 2019 in North Carolina, and he makes for a very good argument as the #1 prospect out of NC regardless of class. Baker continues to get better and with his size, length, and strength he is a legit matchup nightmare on both ends of the floor. With recent offers from Kansas, Louisville, and UCLA he has now firmly established his status as a blue blood prospect.
1. Ian Steere, 2018 6'9" Power Forward, Wesleyan Christian Academy: This past month Steere's stock has literally exploded, running with Team Charlotte this year it looks like he has finally started to reach toward his ceiling like many thought he would do over a year ago. Before the first live period began Steere only had offers from the likes of Hampton, High Point, North Florida, and UNC-Charlotte among a few others. Now he has picked up offers from the likes Arkansas, Clemson, Florida State, Georgia, Kansas, Missouri, Pittsburgh, and UConn and it doesn't look like he will be slowing down any time soon. Once considered a fringe top-30 prospect in the state, now it's no question that he has vaulted himself into top-10 status regardless of class.
