New Orleans, LA (Future150) -- The NOLA Super60 kicked off on Friday night, and Future150 got a glimpse of the stars of tomorrow in the classes of 2017, 2018, and 2019. Here is who impressed us on the opening night of action...
Blake Williams, 2017 PG, Team Thad:
The 5'9" lead guard has the look of one of the best point guard prospects in the country in the 8th grade class. He is a strong prospect who plays intense, physical defense. He is also a fearless penetrator who also can finish at the rim with contact.
Jamal Johnson, 2017 SG, Birmingham Storm
The 6-foot-3 inch SG is the son of All-American Buck Johnson and you can quickly see that the genes have been passed on. Johnson is long, athletic and a big time play maker on both ends of the floor. He gets better everytime we see him and has a very high ceiling. Its easy to see why he is the #19 player in the country.
Jeffrey Prophete, 2017 SG, Lauderhill Lions:
The 6'2" shooting guard is another nationally ranked prospect who impressed us on Friday night. He is a strong kid who can get to the basket whenever he wants, and finishes with the best of them. He also has excellent end-to-end speed on the floor.
Bryce Oliver, 2018 SG, Lauderhill Lions:
The smooth 5'9" guard can play with the ball in his hands or on the wing. He can shoot the ball from the outside and is also able to penetrate and finish at the rim with either hand. Plays with good pace as well.
Isaiah Malcome, 2017 PG, Southern Stampede:
One of the more fun prospects to watch on Friday night was the 5'2" prospect. Isaiah has an explosive first step and uses it to get into the lane at will. He is also an extremely muscular kid who finishes at the rim with contact regularly. Great speed in the open floor as well.
Abule Abadi, 2017 PF, Lauderhill Lions:
The 6'5" power forward is an intimidating presence in the lane for the Lauderhill Lions. He is a ferocious rebounder who can finish at the rim. He is an explosive leaper who loves to play above the rim and he also has good timing on his shot-blocking. High motor kid as well.
Joshua Washington, 2017 SG, Houston Bulldogs
The 6-foot-3 inch SG was one of the top all around players we saw on Friday night. He is a big time play maker who can score on all 3-levels. His best attribute might be his ability to play defense as he was causing havoc all over the floor. Plays with a high motor and rebounds well on both ends of the floor from the guard position. Washington is a great looking young prospect.
Josh Okogie, 2017 PF, Southern Stampede:
Josh has grown since he evaluated him last year, and so has his game. He is now up to 6'3", and he is becoming a stronger inside player who is embracing the physicality on both ends. He can now play above the rim and he is finishing at the rim on a more consistent basis.
Keaton Herrey, 2017 SF, Austin Blazers:
The 6'3" swingman had a breakout game on the opening night of action. He showed great versatility in his game and is a solid slasher when attacking the hoop. He also showed decent range on his mid-range jump shot and played solid on-ball defense.
