Greensboro, NC (Future150) -- Coach LeVelle Moton got his floor general of the future recently when 2017 PG Jordan Perkins of Team Felton/Greensboro Day School committed to North Carolina Central.
Perkins had a very good summer with Team Felton showing off his fantastic ball-handling and court vision, along with improved defense and finishing abilities around the rim. He feels like his game will fit well with the system at NCCU.
"I chose Central because I felt like it was the best fit for me," Perkins said. "I love the system they play in and it compliments my game very well."
Finding the right fit and choosing which coaching staff you want to be around for the next four years is never an easy decision. There was one X-factor about NCCU's coaching staff that sold Perkins, and that was the head coach. Moton, who helped coach the U-19 USA Basketball team last year, has quite the legacy around North Carolina.
"Coach Moton is a phenomonal coach and a legend," Perkins said. "It made me feel more comfortable to commit to (NCCU) because I know I'll be playing under a legendary coach who will develop me into a great man and player."
For those who haven't seen Perkins in action on the floor, he's always looking to make a play. Whether it's locking up on defense, snagging a loose ball, or scoring in the lane. His high IQ and passing abilities will be welcomed at NCCU, and he could easily be an impact player right away for the Eagles.
For now he will focus on his upcoming Senior season at Greensboro Day School, but it won't be too much longer till he's making his presence felt in a gray and maroon colored jersey.
Stay locked in with Future150 as we continue to track commitment updates in the NC, SC, and VA regions.
