Bronx, NY (Future150) -- While most of the recruiting is done on the AAU scene, other players emerge as hot names during their high school basketball season. For Naasir Williams, that will have to happen.
Williams, a 5-foot-11 point guard out of the Bronx, New York, holds an offer from Eastern Illinois at this point. There is still steady interest, but the senior is expecting big things heading into his last high school season.
“The season has got off to a slow start,” he told Future150.com. “My team is 3-1 right now and I can see that I have improved on my ability to run a team.”
The Cardinal Hayes (NY) product is also receiving interest from Iona, Hofstra, Vermont, Fairfield, LIU, and Monmouth. Williams claims no leaders at this point, but he says he does stay in contact with one school the most.
“I talk with Fairfield the most. We have a great relationship.”
Williams visited Fairfield in back in June. Not only is he thankful for all the schools recruiting him, but he feels like the majority of the schools are what he is looking for right now.
“I’m looking for a great school academically, and also a school where I can come in and contribute early,” he explained.
Stay tuned to Future150 for more on Naasir during the second half of the season.
