They are coming into their own and building future hardwood stars. These players made their mark at the Future150 camp in Nashville this past weekend. Players like LaMontes Johnson (2014) shined as upcoming stars along with ice-cold leadership from William Primm, III (2013) and strength coming from Trel Gates (2013) made sure to leave their mark on the camp. Here is the list of more of the camps top performers.
LaMontes Johnson (2014) is a young guard with a solid future. As a 6-foot-2 combo guard, he provides mismatch problems on the perimeter with his length and can get to the basket regularly.
Guy Stanford (2013) an aggressive big guard knows how to handle contact. He runs the team with strong leadership and can score from all three levels. As a 6-foot-1 point guard, he finishes around the basket with ease.
Jade Patrick (2013) showed glimpses of a bright future. He handles the ball well for a 6-foot-1 combo guard and finishes well on the break. Patrick is a solid perimeter defender with long arms and quick hands.
Darius Mumford (2014) is a 6-foot-4 power forward with good hands. He finishes around the basket with some solid post moves. Mumford goes to the boards hard and battles inside not shying away from contact.
Duran Miller (2013) is a physical specimen at 5-foot-9. He has a strong mid-range game that makes him a tough matchup. His strength allows him to absorb punishment while going into the lane.
William Primm, III (2013) is a gamer. The 5-foot-8 point guard was always willing to take the toughest shot at the most crucial moments. He loves attacking the basket and getting out the break. He can also hit the deep three-pointer, while also distributing timely passes for teammates.
Trel Gates (2013) is every coach’s dream and every opponent’s nightmare. At 6-foot-5, this power forward treats every possession as if it is the most important one on the floor. His athleticism allows him to get out the perimeter to guard smaller players. He also can mix it up in the paint with the post players. Look for him to grow as a player as his game matures.
Dalton Whitney (2012) is a 5-foot-9 point guard is lightning quick. He is a floor general who leads by making plays on the floor. He hits the open jumper when defenders step off.
Grant Pope (2013) affords coaches the opportunity to use his versatility. At 6-foot, he is a big guard who gets to the basket comfortably. He is also a strong rebounder for a player in his position.
Kaleb Murphy (2015) has growth as a young player. The 5-foot-4 guard grew while playing against some of the camps bigger guards. His speed on the break made him a matchup problem as he dished passes to cutting teammates.
Demetrice Braddock (2015) was one of five freshmen to be part of the camp. The 5-foot-10 combo guard, however, played a strong mature game. He managed the game well and found crafty ways to score.
Bryan Shearer (2014) has a laid-back swag about him. The 6-foot-1 forward lets the game come to him. He has a nice mid-range jumper.
Trenton Crump (2016) was the only eighth grader in camp. This 5-foot-6 point guard pushes the ball and knows where to make the moves that will put him in the right place. He was also a member of the 3-on-3 champions.
Rhyan Tallent (2013) is a 6-foot3 combo guard who knows how to get up off the floor. His explosion keeps defenses on their heels because they never know if he will finish with a layup or a thunderous dunk. He also uses the leaping ability to cradle rebounds in the post against taller defenders. Good upside for Tallent as his game grows.
Jatarius Marable (2015) is a talented 5-foot-11 point guard who has great vision and a nose for scoring. He puts pressure on the other team’s defense causing problems.
Decoryone Forte (2014) is a good size guard at 5-foot-9 with long arms and a quick first step. He can score from all three levels and versatility will make him a gem on the court.
Nathaniel Walker (2013) gets to the basket with some power. He is a defensive specialist on the opposite end of the floor as a point guard.
Donta Daniel (2013) is a 5-foot-10 combo guard who handles the ball well. He scores around the basket with consistency.
