Summit, MS (Future150) -- There is always a few of those special athletes that we stumble upon year in and year out during our exposure events. This past summer, 2020 G Alijah Martin of North Pike (MS) attended Future150's Summit Camp as one of the younger prospects in the camp, and was highly impressive. What was even more impressive was when we found out how many sports Martin has been succeeding in lately.
"I play quarterback for the football team, center fielder for the baseball team, and I compete in the long jump, triple jump, and high jump for the track team," Martin said.
After hearing all this, it's easy to forget, but remember, he plays basketball as well, and he's pretty darn good at it. Measuring in at 6'1" with an impressive 6'6" wingspan, Martin showcased his athleticism, versatility on the defensive end, and elite slashing abilties in order to vault himself into the all-star game at camp.
Even though he's just a sophomore with plenty of time left before he closes out his high school career, he's going to have a tough decision to make down the road. Which sport does he want to pursue in college? Baseball, basketball, football, or track?
"Basketball or football, but it's really hard to say right now," Martin said when asked what he thinks he would rather play in college at this point.
One thing is for sure, he could certainly have a future as a division one prospect on the hardwood. He hasn't seen much interest yet, but that will change very soon as he continues to grow and improve upon his game. His measurements, intangibles, and overall athleticism will be way too much for a low/mid-major program to pass up on.
Stay locked in with Future150 as we continue to keep a close eye on Martin with his progress and recruitment process.
