Grand Rapids, MI (Future150) -- Michigan State has struck early. The class of 2014 is shaping up to be a special one, and on Wednesday night, the Spartans were able to land their first commitment from higly regarded shooting guard Drake Harris

Harris is a special type of athlete, as he also excels on the gridiron. While he maintains that he will play both sports in college, it will be interesting to see how the two sports mesh.

Often times players are regulated to coming in at the start of conference play due to bowl game commitments.

When thinking of two sport stars, players such as current South Carolina Gamecock Bruce Ellington come to mind.

While Harris might not be the go-to player that Ellington has been for South Carolina, there is no doubt that he will have an impact on the Spartan program.

He is a good shooter and a decent defender but lacks consistent effort at times. Tom Izzo is the perfect coach for him and often brings out the best of his players.

The future is bright for both Harris and the Spartans, who will now turn their efforts to Cliff Alexander, Jahlil Okafor, and Devin Booker when it comes to the 2014 class.
