Birmingham, AL (Future150) -- Very few people are going to have the opportunity 2014 Ramsay (Ala.) guard Mitchell Baldwin will have. The 6-foot-4 combo guard will get an excellent education, as well as the chance to play basketball at the Naval Academy.
Both of those things factored into his decision to commit to Navy last week.
“I felt like it was the best fit for me overall,” Baldwin told Future150.com. “The education can’t get any better and I believe I have the chance to dominate in the conference."
While he will wait his turn, the physical guard hopes to make a difference early for his future team.
“I expect to be a leader and follow my role, but I expect to score points and be an overall stat stuff, too. It’s what I do.”
Baldwin chose Navy over a host of Ivy League schools, including Brown.
After knocking off the No. 1 team in the state, Wenonah, on Saturday, things are starting to roll for Baldwin and his high school squad.
“The season is going great. Our record isn’t what we would like it to be, but we are getting it going and gelling like we should right now,” he explained.
Baldwin is a two-star according to Future150.
