Philadelphia, PA (Future150) -- Looking back at the first live period in July, there is one player who truly broke out at the Reebok Breakout Classic; Mike Humphrey. The big man had high major programs interested in him but after turning in a solid week in Philadelphia, he really saw his recruitment take off.
Many schools jumped in, and for good reason too. Humphrey has a unique blend of skill and toughness. He excels at rebounding and can step out and hit the three.
"I'm a hustle guy who can spread the floor," Humphrey said of his own game.
Now, he is down to Arizona, Vanderbilt, UCLA, Stanford, and Notre Dame. He has a visit to Arizona scheduled for October 19th as well. All of those schools have targeted other big men in this class as well so it will be interesting to see if that effects his recruitment at all. Arizona has already brought in Craig Victor, a top 50 player in the class. None of the other programs have landed a commitment in the class yet.
It is worth noting that Humphrey boasts a 3.9 GPA while taking honors classes.
"I want to go to a program that is competitive both on the court and in the classroom," He said.
Humphrey went on to say that he will be looking to make a decision after football season ends, so there is a chance he signs in November. Whoever lands the talented big man will get a high character player who will only get better over the next four years.
