Memphis, TN (Future150) -- Written By: Southeast Analyst Zach Levine

Future150.com recently caught up with sharpshooter Will Hrubes of Memphis, Tennessee, to discuss his recruitment and the ongoing AAU season.

The 2016 guard is from Memphis, Tennessee, and currently plays AAU ball there for M33M. At 6’5” and 185 pounds, Hrubes has excellent size for a guard and uses it well. He’s not afraid to post his man up and work in the paint to get a bucket. Scoring versatility is a lost art with so many slashers in the game these days, so a guard that can take advantage of his size down low is certainly valuable.

Still, the most prolific aspect of Hrubes’ game is his 3-point shooting. He’s scoring 19 points per game so far this summer, but what’s even more impressive is that Hrubes is shooting 52% from beyond the arc.

Not only can this kid shoot lights out from 3-point land, but he also understands floor spacing extremely well. When he’s looking for his deep shot, he has a knack for sliding into an open spot on the perimeter where his teammates can find him easily. Hrubes is also a good passer and ball handler.

Still, there is room for improvement in his game. Hrubes must add strength and dedicate himself while on the defensive side of the ball. Hrubes also, as he willingly pointed out, needs to get better at passing out of double teams and traps. Eventually, it would be nice to see him drive to the hoop with more force and consistency, but that will come easier with added strength and experience.

As far as his recruitment is concerned, the Memphis sharpshooter has been flying under the radar. As of now, he has received interest from the University of Mississippi and Chicago State University. Entering his junior year, however, he’s excited to use the summer tournaments to increase his exposure and draw more interest and offers.

“I’m interested in Arizona, Oregon, Florida State, South Florida, Wake Forest, Memphis, LSU, Washington, Iowa, Wisconsin, Ole Miss and Chicago State.”

Hrubes currently does not have an offer, but that is certain to change as he gets older and continues to develop as a player. Skilled perimeter players who move well without the ball and knock down 3′s are becoming harder to find, so the sophomore’s recruitment will surely pick up steam over the summer. Check back with us for updates on Hrubes, as he is planning to attend the Arkansas F150 Camp this September.
