Charlotte, NC (Future150) -- Marlon Coley might not be a household name yet, but don't tell this hard working forward that he won't be soon. Coley brings a certain toughness and intelligence to the floor, the kind that coaches love.
Just a junior, Coley attended the Future150 Charlotte Camp this fall and impressed us greatly. A blue-collar type, Coley won't wow you with overly flashy plays. What he will do, however, is average between 12 and 15 points as well as eight to 11 boards. Throw in five assists per game and you have an extremely efficient player. Those are the numbers Coley averaged all season while leading his high school team to a 17-9 record.
Marlon said that he learned a lot while at the Future150 camp, while also having fun competing against the talent the camp had to offer. While most juniors are starting to just now name favorites, Coley has one dream school: VCU.
"The number one reason I'm drawn to them is their defense. Defense is key for them, that's why they've been so successful. I'm also a fan of coach Smart." He told Future150.
With any luck, Coley should continue to progress and ultimately draw an offer from his dream program. As it stands, he would be a great fit in the havoc system. Look for Coley to have a big AAU season and begin to rack up offers.
