Winston-Salem, NC (Future150) -- Last weekend Malik Sanders had some big time performances in front of tons of division one coaches at CP3 Live.

Sanders is a 2017 guard out of Durham, North Carolina. Sanders attends Prominence Academy and competes with Team Winston on the AAU circuit.

"Malik is definitely a talent.  Good ball-handler, shooter, and is a pleasure to coach," said Team Winston Coach John Hopper.  "His best (overall) attribute to me is his fearlessness. He isn't scared of anything or anyone and always competes at a high level."

For now his only interest seems to be coming from Norfolk State, but that should certainly change with the way he has been playing.

Sanders is more of a combo guard because he can excel at running the point and playing off the ball. His knack for putting the ball in the basket is incredible. He can pull up from deep with a hand in his face, or drive through the heart of the defense and get to the free throw line.

Another great thing about Sanders game is his energy and motor.

No matter what the score was...if Malik was out there, he was working his behind off. Whether his team was up twenty or down twenty you never saw him slack off on defense or stop trying to score the ball on offense.

It was very refreshing to see this from Sanders as most guards tend to slow down and relax once a deficit or lead swells up.

"Coach wants me to be the team leader," said Sanders. "When we run into difficult times on the floor, they want me to (be the guy) to get the guys together and fight through as a team."

Sanders is certainly getting the job done and exceeding role expectations.

As he heads into his junior year in high school, he will definitely be looked up too as an upperclassman. Malik seems ready for the challenge.

"I'm going to get twice as better, and (continue to improve on) scoring, defense, and my basketball IQ."

When you add all these great player traits to his natural skill set, it just screams high-major guard in the making. One thing is for sure, this kid is building a name for himself.
