Philadelphia, PA (Future150) -- Since his freshman year, Malachi Richardson has had plenty of hype surrounding him; and for good reason. The soon to be junior is an elite prospect. At 6-foot-6 and 192 pounds, he has great size for his position. His ability to shoot it from deep is borderline elite and he can score the rock from anywhere on the floor.
Richardson spent this past year at Roselle Catholic (NJ) along with Syracuse-bound Tyler Roberson and 2014 point guard Hakim Santil. Those three helped lead Roselle to a state title and a Tournament of Champions crown. Before the AAU season began, Richardson got hurt, causing him to miss the first part of the EYBL circuit.
With his Team Final squad locking up a spot for Peach Jam next month, Richardson will be able to showcase his game on the biggest stage. The wing already has offers from elite programs around the nation. Indiana, Syracuse, Ohio State, Miami, Florida, Rutgers, Seton Hall, Cincinnati, SMU, and James Madison have all pulled the trigger; and more schools will get involved after the upcoming live period.
Right now, the sharp shooting wing has two goals in mind “I want to get better, and I want to win Peach Jam,” he said. While there will be a tough road to the Peach Jam championship, Richardson remains undaunted; the hard part is already over.
