New Haven, CT (Future150) -- Every year, a number of players use the National Prep Showcase to improve their recruitment, and this year was more of the same. For Future150 Alum Maceo Jack, having a big weekend was important.
Jack put up 18 points in the second half of St. Thomas More's game on that saturday, scoring on all three levels. Early in his career, Jack was not a great shooter, nor was he able to create his own shots. Now, he is able to consistently hit threes and get himself open.
He credits a lot of his development to his short time at St. Thomas More.
"I think I'm able to get the best coaching at this level I think in the country from Jere Quinn, I want to work on being more of a combo guard and working on my reads and I know that's something that St. Thomas More is going to help me with," said Jack.
With how far he has come in his development, it wouldn't be surprising to see him head to a mid-major program at the end of the year, as he won't make his college decision until the spring.
Marist, George Washington, Duquesne, and Dartmouth have been the four main schools in his recruitment. George Washington is the latest to offer, but likely won't be the last.
"I want to major either in business or physcology and academics are really important to me, other than that, I want to be able to trust the coaching staff and go somehwere that is more like a family," Jack said of his recruitment.
It will be interesting to see what other schools get involved this winter, but expect them to be bigger programs. George Washington was the first mid-major program to the party and should get credit for seeing what Jack could be down the line. Whoever lands this Alum will be getting a scorer who will put up points from day one.
