Charlotte, NC (Future150) -- 2015 Kennedy Charter (NC) wing Lucas Johnson has cemented himself as one of the brightest players in the state of North Carolina.
Despite his talents, the 6-foot-5 athlete is still awaiting his first scholarship offer.
“Appalachian State, Liberty, Georgia, Tennessee, Clemson, and Charleston Southern are coming the hardest right now,” Johnson told Future150.com. “But I really like Georgia.”
“I’m talking to Coach [Jonas] Hayes from Georgia. We check on each other a lot and he has come up to my school to visit.”
All of the schools mentioned above fit in to one main factor for Johnson at this point: proximity to home.
“The school is most important to me. Somewhere close to home with player productivity. And the atmosphere of the school with the program,” he explained.
For now, the recruitment is on hold. Heading into the latter part of the high school season, Johnson believes he and his teammates and turning a corner on the court.
“It has been a tough year for us. We have had a hard time winning tough games, but we’re finally understanding things now going into our conference tournament.”
Johnson is a four-star prospect and is No. 67 in the 2015 Future150 rankings.
