New Orleans, LA (Future150) -- Future150 makes its second stop in the State Rankings in Mardi Gras land. Louisiana and the 2021 class is the second off the list and brings a ton of talent to the table. Lets check out who made the Top 10 list.
#1 Javon Ruffin (6'4/CG/Isadore Newman) (AAU- LivOn Fleur De Lis) The son of former NBA player Micheal Ruffin, Javon is versatile player that can play multiple positions including PG. Ruffin can score from anywhere on the court and makes it look easy. His ability to get downhill on his defender allows him to score through contact. He currently holds multiple offers from D1 Schools.
#2 Derrick Tezeno (6'5/SF/North Central) (AAU- LivOn Fleur De Lis) Tezeno is a infectious player that makes everyone around him better due to he loves to compete. His motor and aggressive nature is what stands out when you watch him play. The ability to play above the rim allows him to finish with anyone in the class. He currently holds multiple offers from D1 Schools.
#3 Carlos Stewart (6'1/CG/Dunham)(AAU- LivOn Fleur De Lis) Stewart is probably the best two way player in the state. He loves attacking the rim to go along with his snipper shot from beyond the arc. Stewart was name the most outstanding player in 2A this past year. He currently holds multiple offers from D1 Schools.
#4 Emareyon McDonald (6'1/PG/ Scotlandville Magnet) (AAU- LivOn Fleur De Lis) McDonald was currently ranked #2 before transferring to Scotlandville and having to sit out. Sitting out and still being ranked this high in our state rankings speaks volumes about Mcdonald. He is probably the best shooter in this class with advance ball handling skills. His long range shooting skills are far superior to anyone in the class. It's interesting to see what McDonald will do in the new Scotlandville offense that has produced two ESPN top 100 Guards in the last 4 years Javonte Smart, LSU and Reece Beekman, Virginia). He currently holds multiple offers from D1 Schools.
#5 Joe Charles (6'7/SF/Carencro) (AAU- Louisiana Elite) Charles is an early University of Louisiana Lafayette commit! Charles battled injuries this past year which sideline him for the most part of the season. This prospect can play mulitple positions on the floor and if he grows and fills out he might be a 3-4 at the next level. His length and athleticism allows him to score on all three levels and defend any position on the floor. Tons of upside to this D1 Prospect.
#6 Brian Thomas (6'4/CG/ Walker) (AAU- LivOn Fleur De Lis) Thomas is the true definition of pure athlete. This 2 sport athlete excels not only on the basketball court but the football field as well. His quickness and athleticism allow him to score at the rim with the best in the class. Quick feet, shooting the jumper and scoring downhill are things that come to mind when you watch him play. Although he might choose football in the end, we could not leave him off the list. He holds offers in football and basketball.
#7 Will Allen (6'6/PF/ Bonnabel) (AAU- LivOn Fleur De Lis) Allen lead his team to the state championship game this year but they lost a good Alexandria Senior High. Allen's ability to make the mid and long range shot consistently has added to his stock. The ability to score around the rim with his athleticism might be his best trait to date. The more aggressive he is the better he plays.
8. Jourdain Dishmond (6'7/C/Holy Savior Menard) (AAU- LivOn Fleur De Lis) Dishmond can step outside and knockdown the three point shot when attacking his defender. His ability to make the 15-foot jumper is what makes him special. The willingness to attack his defender in the post with his footwork and raw powere is something you just don't see a lot of these days.
9. Keon Coleman (6'4/CG/Opelousas Catholic) (AAU- LivOn Fleur De Lis) Coleman is another two sport athlete that I feel will choose football over basketball but that doesn't mean he can't play at the next level. With multiple offers in basketball, Coleman is an energy guy that can play above the rim. He uses his football instinct to create open court steals which turn into highlight reels on the other end. His overall athleticism is what stands out in his game and does mind testing his defenders when attacking the rim. (Multiple D1 offers in basketball and football)
#10 Daniel Ortiz (6'1/CG/Southwood) (AAU- Louisiana Elite) Ortiz is a floor general that can score the rock and makes everyone around him better. His overall game is like having a coach on the floor. When the game is line you want the ball in his hands to make a play for himself of others. This year Ortiz had a few games up in the 30's. As his consistency continues to grow look for his stock to continue to rise.
