Spokane, WA (Future150) -- After only signing just one prospect last year, Gonzaga has gotten right back to where they usually are by leading the West Coast Conference in recruiting. With the #1 class in the WCC comes five prospects, three of the five which are international prospects, and four of the five which are four-star prospects:
Zach Collins, 4-star prospect, Bishop Gorman (NV): Collins is the stud of the class after having a nice late-blooming recruitment and picking up plenty of high major offers, he decided to commit to Mark Few and Co. Collins has plenty of experience going against big time talents as he played alongside Stephen Zimmerman, and Chase Jeter throughout most of his high school career. He is a true post player with great mobility and foot work. His rebounding abilities will translate over well, and once his defense improves he could become one of best big men in the country in a few years.
Zach Norvell, #86 in top-150, Simeon (IL): Norvell is the only true guard of this class, as the rest are wings or forwards. Norvell may also have the least pressure to perform as the Bulldogs will return pretty much all their major pieces in the backcourt including, Nigel Williams-Goss, Josh Perkins, and Silas Melson among others. Norvell will bring pure scoring talent to the roster and may be the one they look at on nights when the starters come out cold. Overall Norvell projects to be a fine combo guard with good size at 6'4, 185.
Killian Tillie, 4-star prospect, INSEP Paris (France): Future150 does not have a profile or ranking as Tillie is an international player and plays high school ball in France. Tillie is not your typical four-man as he has amazing court-vision and pretty good handles as well. He is a very smooth player on offense and has a good feel for the game. His length allows him to grab rebounds with ease and seems to be a pretty good shot blocker. He is a very good slasher for a 6'10 kid and will put pressure on the entire defense as he can play the three through five.
Jacob Larsen, 4-star prospect, SISU (Denmark): Another international prospect, Jacob Larsen is another big man standing at 6'10 that projects to be a strong four and five man at the next level. He is an active post player that knows when to back his man down and score, and when to kick the ball out to the perimeter when the defesne starts collapsing on him. Gonzaga wasn't the only high major school after Larsen as he also had offers from Marquette, and Maryland before he comitted to the Zags.
Rui Hachimura, 3-star prospect, Meisei (Japan): Hachimura is easily the least talked about prospect in this class not only because he is the lowest rated out of the five but he is also from Japan. The internantional recruiting industry is already at a small amount to begin with, but you don't hear very often about players from Japan coming over to the states to play basketball in college. Most people list him as a SF but he has the physical traits at 6'8 to play both forward spots. Hachimura loves the mid-range jumper on offense, and that is probably the best part about his game. He is also skilled at drawing contact and finishing in the paint, whether it's off the dribble or off the catch.
