Charlotte, NC (Future150) -- Having young players and overcoming the adversity that comes without veteran leadership is sometimes tough to fight against. Just ask 2014 shooting guard Nick Hough.
Hough, a junior at Hickory Ridge (NC), says his team has had to go through some growing pains at times this season. However, things may be clicking heading into the postseason.
“Our season is starting to pick up now,” he told Future150. “We are very young, so it took a little time for everyone to get comfortable with each other.”
The 6-foot-4 wing is currently averaging 16 points, 5 rebounds, and 3 assists per game, highlighted by his best game in where he dropped 25 points, 14 rebounds, and four assists.
While he is having a successful season individually, Hough is quick to admit he is still spending time learning the game. He pays respect to two main players:
“I watch a lot of Stephen Curry and Kevin Durant. I just try to learn stuff from watching them play and add it to my game.”
As for recruiting, things are moving slow right now. Marist continues to send Hough letters, but with a big AAU season and another productive high school season, the wing could be a nice steal for a low-major program.
