Murfreesboro, TN (Future150) -- With the long, foreboding arms of a crossing guard, Dedric Lawson (Future150 #28) snatched four steals in the second quarter.  Reigning McDonald's All-American Lawson lead his Hamilton High to a casual win, 55-34.

Lawson and his brother K.J. Lawson (Future150 #37) sleepwalked through the opening quarter.  Unfortunately, Hillsboro scorers were unable to capitalize and trailed 13-6 after eight minutes.

First, the lithe K.J. awoke from his slumber with a few slashes.  As the Hillsboro Burros pecked away at the Hamilton zone, Dedric roamed the lane like a troll defending his bridge.  His first two steals directly lead to a 5-0 Hamilton run with 5:58 remaining in the second quarter.

Instantly Hillsboro Head Coach Rodney Thweatt called a timeout.  Curtains.

The remaining 22 game minutes were forgettable pit stops on the road to a slaughter.

Noteworthy contributions by role players included excellent on-ball defense by PG Romero Hill.  He dictated the direction of the opposing offense just by moving his legs.  Freshman Kevin McMahon was decent.  He has a bright future.  Shooter Charles Telford hit a couple of early, outside jumpers.

For using an ineligible player, Hamilton High earned a forfeit for every game a ninth semester athlete competed in.  Those 15 games, originally wins, are now recorded as losses.

Hamilton will likely cut down the nets Saturday.  And those 15 unsightly losses will be internally considered wins.

Blackman blasts Maryville

The guard play of Blackman overran the Rebels of Maryville, Tennessee.  Class of 2016 scorer, Cedriontis Wilson paced the Blaze with 17 points.  Wilson was the only shooter on the floor and dumped in 11 first quarter points.

Head Coach Barry Wortman earned Wilson two wide open three pointers with out-of-bounds play calls.  There was a curl from the wing and also a lateral slolam run.  Both ended it a net splasher.

Wilson has thin arms and doesn't love contact.  For Blackman he never handles the rock, until it is time to hunt for points.  The large lead Blackman maintained from early stages led to much fake motion late.  To play D1 Wilson needs to commit more defensively.  He does not slide feel well, but his athleticism is good enough for the next level.

Blackman has a number of sparkling guards.  Donovan Page is an amazingly quick point guard, standing 5'10".  He did not take many shots, or show off offensive skills beyond elite agility and handles.

Combo forward David Ivy might pan out.  Right now, Ivy is a 6'5" sixth man with average mobility and capable shooting when left alone.
