Pottsville, PA (Future150) -- After mulling over his college decision for quite some time, 2013 combo guard Brandon Bridy decided that Kutztown University was the best fit for the Pottsville High School (PA) guard.

He chose the Golden Bears over Bloomsburg, East Stroudsburg, Randolph Macon College, DeSales, and several other quality Pennsylvania schools.

"I chose to continue my playing career at Kutztown because of their outstanding reputation in the PSAC, as well as their coaching staff, which is easily one of the best around," he told Future150.

One of the most successful players in the history of Pottsville High School basketball, Brandon will be bringing a winning mentality to the local program.

He helped the Crimson Tide to four straight Schuylkill League championships, and in 2013, was named the Republican-Herald All-Area Boys' Basketball Player of the Year.

A hard worker, he plans on spending this summer in the lab getting better before he arrives on campus in the fall.

"I'm going to be lifting and conditioning five times per week. I am also doing point guard skill workouts to improve my ball-handling and court vision. I'm trying to become a better point guard in general," he said.

It's not all work for the slashing guard though.

"I'm also doing breakfast club workouts with local college players and am taking part in summer leagues to stay sharp."

While he's beyond excited to get to Kutztown to continue his career, he admits that it's bittersweet leaving Pottsville and his illustrious career behind.

"I'm going to miss playing at Martz Hall with my teammates, and I hope to take my success I had in high school to Kutztown."

While he will be moving on, he will still get a chance to relive his high school playing days. Kutztown's first home game of the season will be against Philadelphia University and childhood friend and former Pottsville star Nick Schlitzer, an opportunity which Bridy is excited about.

"I'm excited to go against Nick, especially since it's our first home game of the season. It's going to be a fun experience," he noted.

Expect the summer workouts with Bridy and Schlitzer to have some added intensity with bragging rights on the line come basketball season.
