Winston-Salem, NC (Future150) -- The best point guard to ever come out of the Winston-Salem area? That’s a no brainer. Chris Paul. The best high school guard currently playing in the “Dash?” That’s up for debate, but Kedrick Flomo is certainly in the conversation.
Not surprisingly, the 2014 North Forsyth lead man named his favorite player as Chris Paul and someone who he learns after every time he watches him play. And while Flomo’s recruitment is not on the same level as the current NBA All-Star’s was, it has built momentum in the recent months.
Flomo informed Future150.com that offers have come in from Gardner-Webb, Buffalo, Winthrop, UNC-Wilmington, East Carolina, and Mercer. Lately, interest has come from the likes of VCU, Tennessee, Wake Forest, Murray State, and Virginia Tech.
Aside from Wake, he says he has heard from all of these schools regularly.
While no one particular school jumps out right now, Flomo said he plans on taking an unofficial visit to East Carolina in the coming months.
He would be a welcomed addition at a school like ECU, and for those fans wondering what they would get with his addition, he gave a simple answer.
“I’m a scoring point guard. I’m a leader on the floor, and I’m willing to play defense.”
Not a bad combination of qualities.
Flomo is a guy who plays the game with comfort and confidence. He makes things happen with the ball in his hands, and he has a take-over ability that can win games for you. His shot making ability makes him dangerous from all areas of the floor, and what he lacks in strength he makes up for with ball skills.
The next step is adding that strength to his 163 pound frame, so he can compete consistently at the next level. He knows it too, as he mentioned getting in the weight room is his main priority.
There is a wealth of talented 2014 point guards in North Carolina, and Winston-Salem has one of them.
It may never find itself another Chris Paul, but it sure does have another good one in Kedrick Flomo.
