Chicago, IL (Future150) -- The Kansas Jayhawks capped off a big week on Friday, when they received a commitment from the #2 prospect nationally in the 2014 class, Curie (IL) power forward Cliff Alexander.
After an emotional win for the Jayhawks on national television against Duke, they won again Friday be securing one of the most explosive prospects nationally in the 6-foot-8 post.
The Chicago forward picked the Jayhawks over DePaul, Illinois and Memphis. There were rumors all week putting Alexander at Illinois and DePaul, making his announcement a legitimate surprise, even though many still gave Kansas the nod.
He joins Findlay Prep (NV) wing Kelly Oubre in the Jayhawks class. He is currently ranked as the #13 prospect in the country. They will be an excellent pair at the next level. Oubre can score the basketball on all three levels, but also loves playing unselfish basketball, involving his big men in the flow of the game.
Alexander will give Kansas a fierce, bullying forward who rebounds extremely well, finishes everything around the rim, and could end up being the most effective immediate impact freshman next season.
